The Yvonne Cosgrove Concert Series Presents Russian Ensemble ChoRuss

The name "ChoRuss" means "Choir of Russian". It was founded in 2012 by Miroslav Alekseev and Dmitry Petrov.
There are 4 people in our ensemble. 

We sing spiritual music of popular composers from the 19th, 20th century which accompanies worship in Russian Orthodox Church. They are: Dmitry Bortniansky, Sergei Rachmaninov, Peter Tchaikovsky, Pavel Chesnokov. This music is performed a Cappella, as in the traditions of Orthodox music are not used musical instruments.

All singers have a musical education of the Conservatory,
and some have awards in international vocal competitions.

The Vocal Ensemble tours extensively in Europe: in Germany, in France, in Switzerland, UK .
Since 2016, the ensemble began to tour the United States.
For 3 years they visited 10 states, such as Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Virginia, etc.
They gave more than 200 concerts in the USA,
Belgium and the Netherlands.
March 21, 2018 from the Baikonur cosmodrome to the International Space Station went CDs of the Vocal Ensemble "ChoRuss". October 4 2018, the compact discs return to Earth with the seal of the International Space Station.
 The repertoire of the ensemble consists of spiritual music, which is performed during church services in the Orthodox Church and Russian folk songs. The purpose of the group "ChoRuss" is to tell people through music, about Russia and its cultural heritage.
