Theology of the Body:

A DVD series by Christopher West

If you have ever asked questions like:  What is God’s plan for me? What is the purpose of my body? What does it mean to be created in God’s image? What does the church really teach about sex and marriage and WHY does it teach that?  How do I answer the questions my kids might ask? – then this class is for you.It has now been 10 years since we began teaching the Theology of the Body for Teens as part of the instruction for Confirmation.  This version of catechesis for the adults has been available at St. Mark since 2016, attended by folks ages of 18 to 80 who now have a better understand of the desires God gave us and their true purpose in life.  Come join us to learn about the secrets of God hidden in the Universe from all eternity.

What:  An Introduction to the Theology of the Body –Adult Catechesis provided through a series of 8 video sessions on DVD and accompanying group discussion.

Who:  Everyone! If you have a body, you are invited to attend. Everyone needs to learn this; a special invitation is extended to the parents of the Teens who are attending the Theology of the Body for Teens this spring (2019).  Likewise, if you have children who attend Sunday afternoon RE classes, take them to their class and stay for your own.

Why:  There is never a point in our earthly faith journey when we can say, “I have reached my destination.  I’m done.” It is an ongoing process to keep learning more about the God who made us and seeking a deeper relationship with Him.  Also, as parents we must also be able to pass this desire for God on to our children.  Going through this instruction will better prepare you to discuss what your kids are learning with them, to reinforce those teachings at home, and to grow in faith together.

When:  Two sessions are offered concurrently this spring.
Sunday afternoons from 3:00 – 4:30 PM
Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Eight classes covering One video session (30 minutes), related discussion (30minutes) each class, and reflection/prayer/fellowship (30 minutes)

Where:  Sundays will be in Holy Family (upstairs in the Community Center)
Wednesdays will be in Christopher Hall Rm#203 (upstairs)

How much:  $20 per person – This includes the cost of the Student Guide.
