One of the many ministries at St. Mark's is known as Caring & Sharing. The name is very appropriate. Because of the community it serves, not many of our parishioners are aware of what this ministry is all about until the need arises. This ministry serves the community of St. Mark's by providing a meal for family and friends on the day of a funeral of a deceased member.
This ministry began as a committee of the Altar Society when St. Mark's was a new parish. As the parish grew, so did this committee. Caring & Sharing is now a parish-wide ministry as part of the Grief Ministry team.
The meals are usually served in the Shalom Room located in the community center. This is a team effort with volunteers--our Kitchen Team Angels--who work in the kitchen to prepare the food. Other volunteers donate some of the food, while others simply make a financial contribution that helps with the purchase of the items to make the sandwiches. Currently, our lists of volunteers to donate food are called one to two times per year (depending on the needs of the parish).
How Can I Help?
We are always looking for new faces. There are no dues nor meetings, just the privilege to be of service when needed. If you would like to be a part of this special ministry by providing food, helping in the kitchen or making a financial contribution, please call Jan Williams at (210) 274-6275.
At St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, we provide childcare for all Masses for children 1-5 years old. Our childcare providers are paid employees that are CPR-certified who are continuing their education in childcare. All childcare employees have passed a background check with the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
We also have childcare for bible studies, catechists, ACTS meetings, RCIA, catechist classes, and most functions happening within the church. This is available by pre-registration only.
Please contact Kim Hicks at (210)-494-7434, ext. 324, or email@example.com in advance if you would like childcare provided for your child.
